Long Lost
Before Tidespawn reaches players around the world, we want to remember where it started. Kvinesdal was one of the first to believe in what we were trying to build and gave us the support and opportunity to develop our studio here. That support has played an important part in getting us to where we are today, and it’s something we don’t take for granted.
On Tuesday evening, September 15, we had a very special milestone: for the first time, we got to present Tidespawn and share our journey as a studio in person, right here in the place where we’re making it — Kvinesdal!
Our Business Developer, Edlynne Martinez, shared the story of how our studio came to be, from working on small projects, to following our passion for making games, and eventually taking the leap to build a studio of our own.

She also talked about what it’s been like building a game studio in a small town. Since most of the Norwegian game industry is based in bigger cities like Oslo, you might not expect a studio like ours to be built here. But looking back, it’s turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. The support we’ve received from the municipality and the community has been incredible, and we’re very proud to be doing it here!
We also got to introduce Tidespawn and show some of the gameplay we’ve been working on. Hearing the “wow”s and reactions around the room while the clips were playing was a great feeling. It was amazing to share what we’ve been working on with the local community.
But the evening wasn’t just about us. We also got to hear from other local businesses and learn more about what they’re doing, from farms and cabins to women working in traditionally male-dominated industries. It was interesting to hear their stories and see all the different things happening in our town.
There’s still a long way to go with Tidespawn, but evenings like this make us appreciate how far we’ve come.
